In 2019, Governor Phil Murphy signed nine new laws that affect New Jersey foreclosures. The laws aim to help homeowners and reduce foreclosures. This article describes the law that relates to creditor contact information.

Creditors (usually “loan servicers”) must send contact information to the township clerk when filing a foreclosure. The contact information must be included in the foreclosure complaint that gets filed with the court. If the information changes while the case is active, the creditor is required to update it within 10 days of the change.
