The following resources include information for veterans in New Jersey who have questions about COVID-19 and how it might effect VA services.

VA Corona Virus Frequently Asked Questions - This website answers general questions about what the VA is doing and recommending concerning the corona virus pandemic.

VA Corona Virus Public Health Page - This website contains information on coronavirus and how the VA Healthcare System is responding to it. Frequently asked healthcare questions about coronavirus are addressed in this section of the website: Coronavirus FAQs: What Veterans need to know.

New Jersey VA Healthcare - This website contains information about VA healthcare options in New Jersey. It also contains information about changes and recommendations by the New Jersey VA Healthcare system due to coronavirus. Veterans with fever, cold, cough, or flu-like symptoms are urged to call their healthcare facility for advice before visiting it. It links to portals where veterans can sign up for secure messaging with VA healthcare providers and also VA Video Connect services for telemedicine. These include:

As of the last update of this article, 11/9/21, VA healthcare facilities in New Jersey had normal services and hours. However, you can check the VA’s New Jersey Healthcare Operating status page for any updates at https://www.va.gov/new-jersey-health-care/operating-status/.

Status of VA Regional Offices in Newark and Philadelphia - As of the date of this update, 11/9/21, some VA Regional Offices have re-opened with limited hours and services including the Newark and Philadelphia offices. The Newark office was accepting walk-ins, while the Philadelphia office is seeing veterans by appointment only. They may be screening visitors due to COVID-19. Veterans should consult the Newark and Philadelphia Regional Office websites to determine any change in status since this update. Veterans can continue to get information about benefits or file a claim for benefits by visiting www.va.gov​. Veterans with claims-specific or other questions may request information via Inquiry Routing & Information System (IRIS) or by phone at 1 (800) 827-1000. The VA has noted a large volume of calls to its 1-800 number. Veterans can check for changes in the status of the VA Regional offices by visiting their websites:
