Payroll Cards

Some New Jersey employers are beginning to ask employees who do not have a bank account to use a "payroll card" to receive their wages.  A payroll card looks like a bank debit card. The money you earn goes into an account held by the company that issued the card, and you withdraw it – often at an ATM machine – or spend it by using the card.

There are some questions you may want to ask to figure out whether a payroll card is a good idea for you. The link below will give you some information from Consumers Union about payroll cards and the kinds of questions you might ask.
