If you have insurance through Medicaid or New Jersey FamilyCare, you should know about a new service offered through Logisticare. Logisticare is a company that works with Medicaid and other government programs to coordinate travel for non-emergency appointments. Logisticare does not own its own vehicles or hire drivers. Instead, it works with existing transportation companies, medical centers, and Medicaid to identify the best option and then make the arrangements for you.
What kinds of appointments will they help me with?
Logisticare can help you arrange transportation for any medical-related matter that is not an emergency. That can include one-time appointments, such as having a test or an evaluation, or ongoing treatment, such as dialysis or a partial-care program.
How do I make a reservation?
Reservations can be made up to one month in advance. Reservations must be made before noon, two business days before your appointment.
To make a reservation for transportation, call Logisticare directly at 1-866-527-9933. You will have to provide the following information when you call:
- Your name, date of birth, and Social Security number, to confirm that you are eligible for the service
- The date, time, and address of your appointment
- The name of the doctor you are seeing
- The reason you need to see this doctor.
Be ready to write down the confirmation number that you will be given after you have made your reservation.
What do I do if my ride does not show up?
If your ride does not show up, or if you have any other problems the day of your appointment, call Logisticare at 1-866-527-9934. Be ready to give them your confirmation number so that they can figure out what went wrong. If you have access to the Internet, you can also send comments or questions through Logisticare’s Member Feedback Forum.
